I deeply regret not being able to attend Marie's memorial service because we are headed to Florida for a long-planned annual meeting & fishing with old high school friends. I will always remember how dedicated Marie was about making the long journey from Calif. (the last time in 2015) to attend our extended family reunions and spend several weeks with her sister Jeanette. Those two "girls" seemed like teenage, then young adult, twins to me, and I well remember visiting their parents in their home down the little lane where they had an underground storm cellar with its shelves lined with home-canned jars of fruits & vegetables. Then later they moved the house up to the main road where they had the most wonderful ol' upright piano on which Great Aunt Cora would let me "play," while she and my mother Hallie visited. By that time, Marie was married and living in New York and I remembered her as our "city cousin." Now I pray for God's blessings on all of you--her dear children, grandchildren, and great-grands, as well as many nieces and nephews. All of us cousins will miss her too. She was a grand lady! Our deepest sympathies go out to the family of Marie. She was such a beautiful lady, standing tall, elegant, and proud of her Milligan heritage. She lit up my heart when I first met her at one of the more recent family reunions, as she related fond stories to me about her 1st cousin, Malcolm, my daddy. May she be in Eternity with Our Lord in Heaven.
