Over the past forty years, Aunt Beverly and I exchanged numerous letters. Once she chided me gently for writing back too quickly following a recent letter she had sent. She liked a decent length of interval to give her thoughts time to fully rise before baking. The result of her deliberately approach to letter-writing was delicious. Some were breezy press releases of family news and events, but more often they were philosophical musings on the latest books she had read on physics, cosmology, religion, or psychology. To describe her as having a perpetual interest about how the world works would have been an understatement. She read widely and deeply and I loved our conversations by mail. I appreciated her wise observations of people, her witty — sometimes acid — sense of humor, and most of all her unabashed curiosity. I will miss her deeply.
