Obituary of Mary Alice Phillips

Mary Alice Phillips, age 90, formerly of Pittsburg, passed away Sunday, August 16 at her home in Sherman. Mrs. Phillips was born November 17, 1924 in Pittsburg, to Robert Lacy Mattison and Kitty Gary Shell Mattison. She attended and graduated from Pittsburg High School and later attended Mary Hardin-Baylor College and Southern Methodist University. Mary was very active in the community, serving as a librarian at the Pittsburg-Camp County Public Library, and as a docent at the Pittsburg Farmstead Museum. She was also a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburg. She is survived by her sons: Robert Jiles Blalock and wife Claudia, of Pottsboro, Texas, and James Mattison Blalock, MD and wife Debby, of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren: Jason Blalock, Jeremy Blalock, Courtney Gilbertson, Meredith Blalock, Audrey Goodwin, and Mackenzie Blalock; as well as five great grandchildren: Conner Gilbertson, Avery Gilbertson, Finn Gilbertson, Madeline Ederer-Blalock, Maggie Goodwin. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Elmo Jiles Blalock, Peter Clark, William Phillips, her parents, Robert and Kitty Mattison, and a sister Kitty Lou Harrington. Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 18 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg.
