Obituary of George Shepherd

George Arthur Shepherd, of Pittsburg, passed away in Daingerfield July 29, at the age of 90. Mr. Shepherd was born in Wesson, Arkansas on February 21, 1925 to John and Mattie Duke Shepherd. George was a veteran of the US Navy, having served during World War Two, from 1942 to 1945. After his military service he had a lengthy career as a truck driver. Mr. Shepherd was a fixture at The Pentecostals of Pittsburg until his illness limited his attendance. George is survived by his wife, Barbara Thomas Shepherd of Pittsburg; a son, Stephen Shepherd of Pittsburg; two daughters: Sandra Marquez and husband Mario of Pittsburg, and Sara Clark and husband Ken, of Daingerfield; 10 grandchildren: Amanda Anderson and husband David, Joshua Perry and wife Ashlee, Kayla Rhyne and husband Brandon, all of Pittsburg, Jeremy Perry and wife Sabrina of Fort Hood, Jessica Howard and husband Andrew of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Robert Marquez, Mario Marquez, Jr., Casandra Marquez, and Alex Marquez, all of Pittsburg. He also leaves behind 3 great grandchildren: Christopher Anderson, Ralee Anderson and Ansleigh Rhyne. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mattie Shepherd, a granddaughter, Tiffany Clark, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, July 31, 2015 at The Pentecostals of Pittsburg with Brother Matthew Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 Pm prior to the service. Burial will be held at Daingerfield Cemetery in Daingerfield.
