Obituary of Robert Russell Dunavant

Robert Russell Dunavant, 67, passed away Monday, May 18 at his home in Ripley, Mississippi. He was born October 1, 1947 to Sherwood and Rachel Davis Dunavant in Pittsburg, Texas. Mr. Dunavant was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Robert was a businessman and owner of a McDonald's franchise in Ripley for 27 years. He was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Ripley. Mr. Dunavant is survived by his wife of 48 years, Glenda Bennett Dunavant of Ripley, MS; two sons, Trent Dunavant and wife Tysha of Canyon Lake, TX and Dr. Rusty Dunavant and wife Spring of China Springs, TX; three grandchildren, Cade and Case Dunavant and Blake Avery Dunavant; three brothers, Ronnie Dunavant and wife Bethanne of Mt. Vernon, TX; Dixie Dunavant and wife Hope of Longview, TX; James Dunavant and wife Angie of Rockwall, TX; 2 nieces, Candice and Jennifer; as well as 5 nephews Ryan, Mitchell, Nick, Paxton and Max. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherwood and Rachel Dunavant. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 20, at McBride Funeral Home in Ripley, Mississippi. Funeral Services under the direction of McBride Funeral Home will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, May 21, at the First Baptist Church of Ripley. Burial and a graveside service under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 23 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg, Texas.
