Obituary of Clovis Kennington

Clovis Kennington, age 92, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in Humble, Texas. Mr. Kennington was born February 8, 1923 to Algie Cumi and Julia Thornton Kennington in Gilmer, Texas. On April 16, 1949 he married Jo Ann Maxwell. Together they raised two children, Keith and Karen. Clovis worked as a manager for Bealls, was a member of Pine Tree Church of Christ while living in Longview and Kingwood Church of Christ while living in Kingwood. His love of God was evident by his life and service as an elder of South Park Church of Christ in Beaumont and working with the Caring & Sharing Ministry of Pine Tree Church of Christ. Clovis served his country in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Kennington of Kingwood, Texas; his son, Clovis Keith Kennington and wife Sarah of San Antonio, Texas; daughter Karen Kennington Power and husband Tim of Kingwood, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Josh Kennington, Jake Kennington, Ryan Kennington, Dr. Mathis Kennington, Hope Kennington, Hannah Kennington, Chad Smith, Cliff Power, Chase Power, and Chelsea Gonzalez; 8 great grandchildren, Caleb Kennington, Ella Kennington, Riley Jo Kennington, Luke Smith, Ashley Smith, Kolbe Smith, Marie Smith, and Jake Power; and his sister, Onella Martin of Baytown, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers,Olvis Kennington and Kermit Kennington. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Pine Tree Church of Christ in Longview, Texas.
