Obituary of Johnnie Eugene Turnage Sr.

Johnnie Eugene Turnage Sr., age 82, of Newsome, went to be with the Lord Thursday morning, January 29 in Longview. Johnnie was born February 24, 1932 in Friendship, Tennessee to David Henry and Marietta Climer Turnage. Johnnie was a devout Christian, and following his 25 year service in the United States Navy found his true calling, serving as an ordained minister. He married his adoring wife Dorothy on March 13, 1988 in Dallas. Together they raised 5 children, and preached the Gospel of Christ. Mr. Turnage is survived by his wife if 26 years, Dorothy Turnage, 3 sons Kenneth Lee Turnage, Johnnie Eugene Turnage Jr., and Clifford Edward Turnage, a daughter, Cherle Ann Engle, a sister Lois Faye Toney and a plethora of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and very good friends. Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, David and Marietta Turnage, and a son, Robert Ray Turnage. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 2, 2015 at Erman Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be the hour preceding.
