Obituary of William Lewis "Bill" Sawyer
William Lewis “Bill” Sawyer passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at his home surrounded by family.
Bill was born in Longview, Texas on March 5, 1941 to Lucille Wilkinson and William Harley Sawyer. He married the love of his life, Wanda McCaw in Pittsburg, Texas on August 12, 1961. He is a Veteran of the United States Army, where he stationed in Korea and Fort Hood.
Bill was a faithful member of the First Pentecostal Church in Pittsburg for over 58 years. He had a love and talent for music, playing many instruments. He taught his four children and all of his grandchildren to play an array of instruments. He loved going to church, playing music, fellowship with family and friends, and fishing with his sons.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wanda Sawyer of Leesburg, two sons; Greg and Judy Sawyer, and Russell and Kelly Sawyer of Pittsburg, one daughter; Bethany and Danny Kemph of Leesburg, one sister; Pattie McClung of Pittsburg, one aunt; Judy and Richard Givens of Porterville, California, eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; William Harley Sawyer and Lucille Story and his step dad Odia Story, a son; Rodney Lewis Sawyer, one brother; Kenneth Harley Sawyer, one niece; Kitty Sawyer, one nephew; Shon Gage, and his in laws; Roy and Lillian McCaw.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Andrew Pack and Bro. John Hines officiating with burial to follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Pittsburg. There will be a visitation held Friday October 11, 2019 from 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
