Obituary of Walter Merion Reynolds

Funeral services for Walter Merion Reynolds, 86, of Pittsburg will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Ebenezer Friendship Baptist Church with Bro. Duane Turner, Bro Gene Lee and Bro. James Duncan officiating.  Interment will be in the Lafayette Cemetery in Upshur County.  Arrangements are under the directions of Erman Smith Funeral Home in Pittsburg.  Mr. Reynolds passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019 in the loving arms of his wife of 62 years.  He was also surrounded by their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.

Mr. Reynolds was born June 23, 1932 in Caradan, (Mills County), Texas to Deward Robert and Sarah Frances Anderson Reynolds.  He was a retired welder from Lone Star Steel, a farmer and rancher, veteran of the United States Army and a member of Ebenezer Friendship Baptist Church, where he was a deacon for over 55 years. He had a strong love for God, Country and 4-H.  He also, loved showing his cattle and winning Reserve and Grand Champion Awards at the Houston and Fort Worth Stock Shows.

On December 27, 1956 he married the love of his life Wanda Mae Coffman together they had three children.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Mae Coffman Reynolds of Pittsburg; son, Walter Merion “Junior” Reynolds and wife, Sharon of Ore City; daughters, Cindy Reynolds Honzell and husband, Clen of Pittsburg and Vicky Reynolds Garrett and husband, Greg of Gilmer; four grandchildren, Timmy Garrett and Tasha, Stephen Garrett and Brittany, Reagan Reynolds Mirick and Phillip and Aaron Reynolds and Jordan; seven great-grandchildren, Shelby Garrett, Nathan Mirick, Jacob Mirick, Isabelle Mirick, Vera Reynolds, Naomi Reynolds and Caleb Reynolds; brother-in-law, W.V. Horton, Jr. of Star, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Deward Donald “Don” Reynolds and Leo Reynolds; sister, Dena Horton; and granddaughter, Maegan June Reynolds.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Garrett, Stephen Garrett, Greg Garrett, Aaron Reynolds, Phillip Mirick and Clen Honzell.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Vicky Garrett, Cindy Honzell, Junior Reynolds and Sharon Reynolds.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2019 at Erman Smith Funeral Home in Pittsburg.
