Obituary of Anita Fern Roper-Irby
Anita Fern Roper-Irby passed away Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Heritage Park Village in Mt. Pleasant at the age of 86.
Mrs. Roper-Irby, the second of three children, was born July 16, 1932 in Wellington, Texas to Delvin and Edith (Hanks) Cooper. She was married to her husband Raymond Roper for 47 years until his passing. She worked as the manager at the Senior Citizens Meal Center in Mt. Vernon until she retired in 2009. Mrs. Roper-Irby remarried Darwin “Buck” Irby in 1997. They were married two years until his passing.
Mrs. Roper-Irby was a member of the Pentecostal faith. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joyce (Cooper) Leivas, and daughter Karen (Roper) Herrera. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Roper and his wife, Heather, Ronald Roper and his wife, Debra, and Charlie Roper; brother, Bernie Cooper and wife, Joyce, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Mt. Vernon City Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with Bishop J.C. Fountain officiating. Interment will be Mt. Vernon City Cemetery. No formal visitation is scheduled. Arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home in Pittsburg.
