Funeral services for Mary Jane Reynolds Johns, 90 of Cypress, TX (formerly of Pittsburg) will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 3, 2019 at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Davis officiating. Interment will be in the Crossroads Cemetery in Camp County. Arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. Johns passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019 in Cypress, TX.
Mary Jane Reynolds was born July 21, 1928 in Camp County, Texas to Eunice and Wheeler Reynolds. On August 17, 1947 she married the love of her life, Billie Johns. Together they raised two boys, started the Lazy J Fruit Farm, delivered freight for the old Pittsburg Depot for Johns Storage, and ended their careers as the Distribution Managers for Ethan Allen, Inc. in Atoka, Oklahoma. For forty-two years they were together day and night and never tired of each other.
After returning to Pittsburg in 1982, they gardened, remodeled the house numerous times to Mary’s exact specifications, and helped raise five grandchildren. They were members of Crossroads Baptist Church and loved being surrounded by friends and family. Mary was an award-winning quilter, amazing cook, gifted seamstress, and an artist with her counted cross-stitch. She could see something she liked, go home and redesign it, then create an even better version. She was “quick-witted” and “sassy” until the last week of her life.
Mary was looking forward to joining her family in Heaven: father, Wheeler Reynolds; mother, Eunice Reynolds; sister, Ovelle Reynolds; and her beloved husband, Billie Johns.
She is survived by her sons, Jim (wife Barbara) and John (wife Cheryl); five grandchildren, Leslie Sincler (husband Page), Chris Johns (wife Cassidy), Nathan Johns, Amanda Trew (husband Allen), and Katie Harris (husband Stofer). In addition she was blessed to have six great-grandchildren, the Sinclers (Callie, Josslyn, and Koen) and the Johns (Abby, Caleb and “Little Miss Mary”).
Pallbearers are Chris Johns, Nathan Johns, Page Sincler, Stofer Harris, Cary John Efurd, and Mark Bishop.
The family would like to thank the staff at Parsons House Assisted Living in Cypress, Texas for helping take care of Mary for the past two years.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Crossroads Cemetery, % Patsy Bishop, 200 Highland Drive, Pittsburg, Texas 75686.
