We were greatly saddened to hear this morning of the passing of Dr. Packer. We consider it a privilege and honor to have been married by Dr. Packer in January 1982 at College Avenue Baptist Church in McGregor, TX. He was a wonderful man with a gift for sharing a genuine message. Our thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences go to the Packer family.
Sincerely,
Deanna and Keith Robinett

Steve married Patricia and I back in 1980. We loved his grace and humor. Years later we caught up with Steve at Mt Lebanon and it was so wonderful he remembered us. We share your grief and your hope in Jesus. May the Lord’s grace be with you

I will be forever grateful for the memories I have of you and years of Sunday morning service with you as a child. I remember always looking for ward to going to church with my grandparents and getting to know you all. Thank you for helping me visualize heaven with your sermons and your unfaultering support of our family through the years. To Donna and the family I wish you all great peace and comfort in this difficult time. Much love and respect to you all.

This loss really hurts, and makes Heaven even more special. Steve and I would meet up for lunch at the Dairyette. We would both vent, tell jokes, and encourage each other in the faith. Those times were so special and I treasure those memories. I’ll have to go there and lift up a frosted mug of root beer in his memory. Noni and I extend our most tender condolences. The Packer Family are so loved and appreciated.

I first met Steve when he was pastoring in McGregor and I was pastoring in Waco. Steve later became pastor of Pleasant Terrace Baptist in Dallas, a church I had previously pastored before moving to Waco. He was an outstanding pastor and supportive friend through the years. Steve was the epitome of a faithful servant leader. Corrie and I extend to Donna and her family our deepest sympathy in the homegoing of one of God’s finest. Psalm 40:1-4a The Living Bible

I didn’t know Steve and Donna very well, but they were my in-laws neighbors for many years and we’re vital friends. We just returned from burying Dick (White) Sunday to learn that Steve died the next day. It makes me smile to think how surprised and happy Dick must have been to see Steve and what a great time they are having with their Lord. Of course, Donna now has to share the grief these fine men left behind. We love you, Donna, we feel your pain, and we share your loss. Our prayers are with you and your family. Jenny, Tom, Toni, and me.

My heart is broken for your family. I was absolutely in shock when I read about Steve's passing. Please know I am praying for all of you as we have had to travel this road when our Father and Husband Rick Carlisle passed away. May our Lord afford you his strength and power since we KNOW that Steve is in the presence of his Father. We pray for peace and comfort during this very difficult time. Our love to all of the family.

Some of my best memories are of the Vacation Bible School’s. Steve and Donna really knew how to relate with the kids and staff. One year Donna has Steve dress as a baby during a family event at the church. He will really be missed. God be with the family at this time.
