Obituary of Richard Efurd
Funeral for Richard Efurd, 83, of Dallas, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2014, at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Pittsburg, with the Rev. Greg Miller officiating. Richard Efurd was born December 31, 1930, in Pittsburg, Texas, to J.W. and Mary Addie Efurd. He was a graduate of Pittsburg High School. Richard served in the US Air Force from 1951-1954. He retired in 1991 from Texas Instruments after 27 years. He was an active member of the Prestonwood Baptist Church. Richard passed away December 16, 2014, at his home in Dallas. On December 31, 1986, Richard married Neva Hamrick. Richard and Neva enjoyed many family events and travels with Neva’s family, Donnie and Sheila Hamrick, Gary Hamrick and Ben and Nelda Hamrick, grandchildren, Jonathan Hamrick, Brittany Pierce and Amy Hamrick, great-grandchildren, Aiden and Arya Pierce and extended family, Mike and Anjeantte Salcido. Richard loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. Richard is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and six sisters. He is survived by wife, Neva Efurd; sister, Peggy Mills; brothers and their wives, John Hart and Sandra Efurd and Jack and Joyce Efurd; and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will take place in Crossroads Cemetery in Camp County, Texas
