Obituary of Bob Gurley

Bob Gurley, age 82, of Waxahachie, passed away peacefully Thursday evening in Dallas surrounded by his family. Bob was born March 17, 1935 in the Simpsonville Community in Upshur County, Texas to Thomas Clyde Gurley and Gladys Gurley.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years: Marie Elaine Melugin Gurley; his six children: Larry Gurley and wife Sandra, Clint Gurley and wife Paula, Cindy Jones and husband Earl, Mike Gurley and wife Lori, Rob Gurley and wife Donna, and Jennifer Mims and husband Jeff; 19 grandchildren: David Gurley, Jonathan Gurley, Samuel Gurley, Rachael Wunderlich, Clinton Gurley, Jr., Brandon Gurley, Brian Gurley, Tricia Gurley Huggett, Patrick Fulgham, Travis Long, Corinne Hawbaker, Jerrod McDaniel, Robin Wright, Crystal Johnson, Robert Gurley, Grant Mims, Brody Mims, Nash Mims, and Barrett Mims; 36 great-grandchildren; a sister: Sue Davis and husband Richard; sister-in-law: Jean Ashlock and husband Ken; as well as a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas Clyde Gurley and Gladys Gurley; two brothers: Bill Gurley and Glen Gurley; a grandson: Christopher Gurley; and a niece: Becky Palmer.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 13, at Simpsonville Baptist Church in Upshur County. Burial will follow at Simpsonville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
