Obituary of Billy Attaway
Billy Attaway, age 81, of Pittsburg, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, July 8, surrounded by his family. Mr. Attaway was born April 11, 1936 in Winnsboro, Texas.
Billy was employed with Pilgrim's Pride for 38 years. He was a Farm Manager for several of Pilgrim's farms in the Pittsburg area, most recently for farm 42. During his lengthy career with Pilgrims he received numerous awards for his production of chickens.
He will be remembered and loved by his wife and children; by his friends, of which he had many, as well as a blessing of nieces and nephews.
Billy was a husband and farmer at heart. He loved to help and take care of his family and friends. Billy will be greatly missed by eveyone that knew him.
His favorite pastimes were deer hunting during the fall, and watching wrestling and old westerns on television.
Billy is survived by his wife Christina Attaway; 2 daughters: Doloris Ann McCoy of Elkhart, Texas and Dana Lynn Attaway of Pittsburg; 2 Step-daughters: Amellia Rose Werthen and husband Eric of Mt. Vernon and Alicia Nicole "Peanut" Quick of Pittsburg; numerous grandchildren; a brother E.B. Attaway and wife Linda of Cypress, Texas; 2 nephews: Robert Ferguson and wife Brenda of Pittsburg and Elby Attaway and wife Caroline of Houston; and a niece: Barbara Johnson of LaPorte, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father: Elby Brown Attaway; mother: Holly Attaway Schane; a daughter: Kathy Trehan; and a sister: Betty Lou Hamilton.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 12, at Black Oak Cemetery near Pickton, Texas. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 8:15 to 9:15 A.M. Wednesday morning, prior to the service.
