Shirley was one of the dearest people I have ever known. I was actually hired by PISD in 1984 to take her place as a second-grade teacher at Pittsburg Primary upon her retirement. She could not have been more gracious as she shared materials and advice then and for years to follow. Within a year, I bought a house directly across the street from Shirley and Bob. They threw the best Fourth of July parties around! Shirley was a stickler for doing things the dignified and proper way. She loved her family dearly as well as her pets and friends. As a neighbor, Shirley was always there if I needed anything. As a friend, she would share wisdom and listen to my frustrations frequently. As a retired teacher, she helped build me into the teacher I am today. Once Debbie and I married, Shirley and Bob "adopted" us and checked on us often to make sure we were okay and happy. To her family, my sincere condolences. Please know that this dear lady was one of my earthly angels long before she moved on to serve in a more heavenly position. I will miss the memories my friend and I shared.

I was a 2nd grade student of Mrs. Fox at Pittsburg Primary. I was also so very fortunate to live "across the street" from her. Growing up, we lived on Hwy 11 and rode our bicycles in Carpenter edition. I'll never forget her address "On the corner of Bruce and Candy Drive." Mrs. Fox will forever hold a special place in my heart as she always greeted me with a smile and. "How are you Ashley?" She was always asking about the success of her former students. As a teachers kid, I am privileged to know the impact teachers have on students. Thank you for being a part of my life Mrs.Fox, and thank YOU to her family who shared her with us! My thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve her passing.

Mrs. Fox was one of my mom's fellow 2nd grade teacher/coworkers in Pittsburg. That's how I first met her. Later on, in 1987 and in 1988 she taught both of my children in 2nd grade. She was a wonderful lady with a beautiful smile. I am so sorry for the gap it leaves in your family but I know there's a great reunion going on in Heaven. Prayers of comfort for your family!
