Obituary of Rex Herbert Duncan
Rex Herbert Duncan, age 91, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, July 14 in Pittsburg. Rex was born July 28, 1924 in Brumley, Texas to Oliver Houston Duncan and Ester Light Duncan. He graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1942. On February 15, 1943 Rex was inducted into the US Army Air Force. Corporal Duncan would serve throughout the European campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes, the Rhineland, and Central Europe before his demobilization in October of 1945.
Following his military service he married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Vaughn. After a lengthy career with Diamond Shamrock Rex enjoyed his retirement in Pittsburg. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. Rex and family were long time members of the First United Methodist Church.
Rex is survived by his son: James Duncan, of Pittsburg; numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Oliver and Ester Duncan; his beloved wife Mary Duncan; and 3 brothers.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 16 at the funeral home. A private burial will be held afterwards.
