Obituary of Mildred Reynolds Barnwell

Mildred Reynolds Barnwell, of Pittsburg, passed away Friday, June 17, at the age of 92. She was born May 9, 1924 in the Union Community of Camp County to Roy and Gertrude Wharton Reynolds. Bibbie as she was known to her family and friends was a member of the graduating class of 1941 at Leesburg High School. Mrs. Barnwell was a devoted wife and mother and worked tirelessly for the benefit of her family. In addition to running the household she also worked as the bookkeeper for Don Reynolds' Flowers and Gifts for many years. A woman of great faith, she was a long time member of the Greer Boulevard Church of Christ in Pittsburg. Her favorite Bible verse, one which brought her great strength and encouragement, is Philipians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Mildred is survived by her daughter: Linda Barnwell Marts and husband Phil of Tyler; a granddaughter: Melissa Marts of Dallas; a brother: Don Reynolds of Pittsburg; a sister: Jan Bowers and husband Kenneth of Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews who meant the world to her. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Bo" Barnwell; parents Roy and Gertrude Reynolds; step-mother Lillian Reynolds; sister Evelyn Garrett; brother-in-law Everett Garrett; sister-in-law Mary Reynolds; aunt Marie Thornton; and uncle Jack Thornton. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, June 19 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 20 at the funeral home with Virgil Faires officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Mildred's honor to the Greer Boulevard Church of Chirst or Cypress Basin Hospice.
