Obituary of Doris Mae McFerrin

Doris Mae Carnes McFerrin, age 88, of Pittsburg, passed away Thursday, December 3 in Mt. Pleasant. She was born July 29, 1927 in Avery, Texas to James Add Carnes and Bulah Taff Carnes. Doris married Lester McFerrin in January of 1947. Together they would raise four children: Mickey, Terry, Gary and Wanda. She was a devoted wife and mother, and later, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was a devout Christian, and long time member of the Greer Boulevard Church of Christ in Pittsburg. She is survived by her three sons: Mickey Flynn McFerrin and wife Deverie, of Yantis; Terry Wayne McFerrin and wife Vicki, of Fairfield; and Gary Paul McFerrin and wife Debbie, of Pittsburg; daughter: Wanda Nell Williams and husband Ron, of Blogett; as well as 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; and a brother: Johnny Rex Carnes, of Mt. Pleasant. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; James and Bulah Carnes; her beloved husband, Lester McFerrin; grandson, Nicholas Arzie McFerrin; brothers: James Add Carnes, Ray Glenn Carnes, and Joe Lynn Carnes; and a sister: Joyce Ann Pettigrew. Visitation will be held 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Saturday, December 5, at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Sunday, December 6 at the Greer Boulevard Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery.
