Obituary of Jessie Bernice Dodson

Bernice Dodson, age 96, of Pittsburg, passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at Pittsburg Nursing Center in Pittsburg. Mrs. Dodson was born August 30, 1919 in Pittsburg to J.B. and Effie Hall Roberts. She was a devout Christian and long-time member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pittsburg. Bernice is survived be her son: Ric Dodson and wife Katrina, of Pittsburg; daughter: Patricia Ann Townsend, of Pittsburg; 4 grandchildren: Joel Townsend, Amy Efurd, Dara Smith and Dia Dodson Hardeman; 9 greatgrandchildren: Crystal Chapman, Linsey Harwell, Brantley Efurd, Reagan Efurd, Courtlyn Efurd, Sydney Smith, Sophie Smith, Hayes Hardeman and Harbor Hardeman; 2 great-great grandchildren: Payton Harwell and Callan Chapman; many nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: J.B. and Effie Roberts; husband, Drebon L. Dodson, grandson Keith Townsend and sisters Thelma Hicks and Gladys Holcomb. Visitation will be held 4:00PM to 6:00PM Saturday. Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M., Sunday, December 6, at Erman Smith Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Rice and Rev. Kyle Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
