Obituary of Pat Murphy

In Loving Memory of Patrick Glenn Murphy, who went to a peaceful and pain free place August 29, 2015 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Marshall. Pat was born January 5, 1959 in Winnsboro, Texas. He was a member of the Pittsburg High School class of 1977. During his High School years he was a member of the band as well as the football and baseball teams. He worked in the oilfield, Pilgrim's Pride Corporation, East Texas Crude and Armur Bank. He is survived by his mother, Norma Jean Jackson of Pittsburg; brother, Mike Murphy of Pittsburg; sister Karla Gilbert and husband Hank, of Whitehouse; nephews: Shane Murphy, of Mt. Pleasant, and Peyton and Cody Gilbert, both of Whitehouse; as well as a niece, Shelby Murphy of White Oak. Pat was preceded in death by his father, Carl Murphy; grandparents Russell and Virgie Murphy and Jesse and Ruby Underwood, and adoptive grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell Harrison. A memorial service was held September 1, 2015 from 6 to 8:00 PM at Erman Smith Funeral Home. Pat's life was celebrated by numerous friends, classmates, and family members. Honorary Pallbearers were Billy Taylor, Mark Bishop, J.O. Weatherall, Monty Fuller, William Mitchum and Wade Amerson. Billy Taylor presented the eulogy and spoke of fond memories of Pat. Donations may be made to the Youth Little League Baseball Association of Pittsburg.
