Obituary of Frances Smith

Carrie Frances Keeling Smith, of Tomball, passed away Wednesday, November 2 in Tomball at the age of 92. Frances was born on December 29, 1923 in Camp County to Jewel T. Keeling and Fannie Hackler Keeling, of Pittsburg, but was raised by her grandfather, James Henry Hackler, of Pittsburg. She married Clarence O. Smith, and together they would raise 5 children. Frances was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her children were her life, especially her youngest son Dexter, who was the apple of her eye. Frances always made it her mission to provide the best care, love, and support for her entire family and her friends. She was constantly doing for others, even when things were difficult for her. She was a caring, cheerful, and kind person. In keeping with her Christian faith she practiced love and forgiveness on a daily basis. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Old Baptist Church in Pine, Texas and was baptized in Highland Lake. She had a special love for animals, especially her dogs and cat. In addition to her outstanding personality, she was also sharp as a tack. Frances was practically a walking encyclopedia and full of more down home common sense than anyone you would ever meet. She could always be counted on for good advice or an encouraging word. She enjoyed keeping her mind working. She kept her mind sharp by working crossword puzzles every morning. Her strength was an inspiration to all who new her. Even at the very end her focus was not on herself, but on the well-being of her loved ones. Mrs. Smith is survived by her five children: Michael Terry Smith, Ginger Fran Morris, Rhonda Susan Nobles, James Dexter Smith, and Tamara Shan Nobles; as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: Jewel P. and Fannie H. Keeling; her grandfather: James Henry Hackler; her beloved husband: Clarence O. Smith; and her sister: Rea Hackler. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 5 at Macedonia Cemetery with Bro. Kyle Smith to officiate.
