Obituary of Dortha Gene Jones

On the evening of August 17th a new star shines in the skies above, Dortha Gene Hosford Jones, 87 years young, of Leesburg, passed away peacefully at home. As a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who enjoyed her Bible reading, tending roses, playing piano, sewing, board games and caring for her family, is now Heaven's newest Angel. A longtime member of the First Assembley of God Church in Pittsburg, a woman of strong faith when called upon by others knew God would be listening to her prayers. As the shining light and magnificent strength to her loving family, she will shine through each of us forever. Survived by 5 children: Margaret Morris of Cookville, TX; Sherman Jones, Karen (Duane) Walker, Tommy (Sandra) Jones all of Leesburg, TX; Paula Travis of Evergreen, CO; 2 Sisters: Joyce Laney of San Antonio, Jeanette Sanders of Mt Pleasant, TX; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by her husband L.J. of 60 years; two daughters; parents Raymond and Marie Hosford; a brother, daughter-in-law, son-in-law and three granddaughters. Born in Earlsboro, Oklahoma. A graveside service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 19 at Masonic Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Family request, in lieu of flowers, donations to CIMA Hospice Care, your favorite charity or church.
