Obituary of Delene Rogers Lee

Delene Lee, age 77, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 in Pittsburg, surrounded by her loving family. Delene was born April 19, 1939 in Paris, Texas to John Mason Rogers, Sr., and Talmadge Odelle Barnwell Rogers. Mrs. Lee was a member of Nevill's Chapel Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. She had a strong belief in the Lord Jesus Christ and spread that wherever she went. Delene was a friend to everyone, and never met a stranger. She led her life with a glass half full view. With her positive attitude she was able to see the best in everyone and in every situation. Delene loved her family deeply, and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 35 years: Jerry Lee; a son: Gary Messer and wife Elaine of Mt. Pleasant; daughter Livia Duncan and husband Mark of Pittsburg; daughter Penny Jones and husband Darin of Gilmer; 9 grandchildren: Jason Paul Messer, Daniel Duncan, Bailey Messer Dalby, Michael Duncan, Kenzie Messer, Jeri Lynn Shaw, Dawson Jones, Shelby Bingham, and Holly Bingham; along with numerous great-grandchildren; a sister: Trevella Monk; as well as a host of nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Delene was preceded in death by her parents: John Rogers Sr., and Talmadge Odelle Rogers; a son: Jerry Paul Messer; a step-daughter: Kimberly Smith; two brothers: John Rogers, Jr., and Ge'Onna Rogers; and a sister Reda Davenport. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 5 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, August 4, also at the funeral home.
