Obituary of Charlsey Norine Cheney McKenna

Charlsey Norine Cheney McKenna, age 76, of Pittsburg, Texas, passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, June 28 in The Woodlands, surrounded by her family. Charlsey was born February 27, 1940 in Pittsburg, Texas to Earl and Leanne Cheney. She graduated from Spring High School in 1958. On August 24, 1957 she wed her friend, Marvin Gerald McKenna. During their 59 year honeymoon they enjoyed raising a family and watching it grow. Mrs. McKenna was a devoted wife and mother, and later grandmother and great-grandmother. She always doted on her children, but took special joy in her grandkids and great-grandkids. She enjoyed and loved her family fiercely and whole-heartedly. A woman of great faith, Charlsey was a member of the Church of God in Pittsburg. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Marvin Gerald McKenna, Sr.,; two sons: Marvin Gerald McKenna, Jr. and wife Cheryl, of Willis, Texas and Phillip Earl McKenna and wife Elizabeth, of Willis, Texas; daughter Cheryl Anne Bean and husband Shannon, also of Willis, Texas. Also left to cherish her memory are her 16 grandchildren: Tiffany Leanne McKenna, Matt Michka, Kimberly Norine Bean Hancock, Jason Hancock, Kindra Nicole Bean Schiffner, Brandon Schiffner, Karla Elizabeth McKenna Green, Jimmy Green, Shannon Paul Bean, Megan Bean, Marvin Gerald McKenna III, Liz McKenna, Phillip Earl McKenna, Jr., Kelsi Elizabeth McKenna Rogers, Daniel Rogers and Kayla Elizabeth McKenna; 8 great-grandchildren: Hannah Marie Green, Haileigh Michelle Green, McKynsie Grace Hancock, Kyndall Brooke Schiffner, Rylan Jace Hancock, Kash Bentley Schiffner, Kyla Rose McKenna and Kynadie Shannon Bean; a brother: Earl Cheney, Sr., of Pittsburg; 4 sisters: Dorothy Holder of Spring, Sonoma Davis of Pittsburg, Brenda Davis of Pittsburg and Jean Carlton also of Pittsburg; along with a host of nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Charlsey was preceded in death by her parents: Earl Cheney and Leanne Cheney Gunn; a brother: Jimmy Cheney; and two sisters: Earlene Jones and Sharon Barton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 2 at Erman Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, July 1 also at the funeral home.
