Obituary of Max Rhea

Max Edward Rhea, age 77, of Pittsburg, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 26. Mr. Rhea was born March 27, 1939 in Mt. Pleasant to Gus and Lori Lula Yates Rhea. On June 3, 1978, Max married the love of his life, Dorothy Hively. Over the next 38 years they would laugh, love and raise a family. Max was a faithful and dedicated member at Reeves Chapel Methodist Church in Pittsburg, Texas. Max was a master electrician and all around handyman. In addition to his regular job Mr. Rhea continued the family military tradition by serving in the National Guard. He is survived by his beloved wife: Dorothy Rhea of Pittsburg, Texas; two sons: Johnny Epperson and wife Julie of Chandler, Texas and W.A. Epperson and wife Jennifer of Knob Noster, Missouri; three daughters: Lynne Hembree of Atlanta, Texas; Bridgett Dyar and husband Rusty of Gladewater, Texas; and Penny Snelgrow and husband Dan of Cameron, North Carolina; as well as 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, who meant the world to him. Also left to cherish his memory are his sister: La Dell Patzig and husband Pat of Granbury, Texas; along with a host of nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends. Mr. Rhea was preceded in death by his parents: Gus and Lori Rhea; a daughter: Melissa Rhea; two brothers: Dan Rhea and Don Rhea; and a sister: Kyle Roach. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 30 at Erman Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Earl Burton and Richard Carl to officiate. Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 29 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations in Mr. Rhea's honor be made to Cypress Basin Hospice.
