Obituary of Sylvia Ann Marshall

Sylvia Ann Marshall, age 80, of Pittsburg, passed away Saturday, January 30 in Mt. Pleasant, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Marshall was born November 21, 1935 in Pittsburg to Ulyss and Vesta Mae Clements Turnage. Sylvia was a life long resident of Pittsburg, where she and her husband James Cotie Marshall owned James' Barber Shop for over 51 years. She was a devoted wife and mother, and later, grandmother and great grandmother. Sylvia was a devout Christian and a proud member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Mrs. Marshall is survived by her son, Wayne Marshall and wife Betty, of Pittsburg; daughter: Linda Howell and husband Jackie, also of Pittsburg; four grandchildren: Misty Proffit and husband Jake, Casey Howell and wife Kari, Erin Marshall and wife Brittany, and David Marshall and wife Whitney; 11 great grandchildren: Dakota Durfee, Drake Proffitt, Tristan Howell, Cameron Howell, Aschton Howell, Slayton Howell, Bryclyn Marshall, Maverick Marshall, Hendrix Marshall, Kaden Proffitt, and Kenley Proffitt; as well as a brother: Lawrence Sonny Turnage, of Canton; and a nephew: Darrell Wayne Bassinger, of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ulyss Lawrence Turnage and Vesta Mae Clements Turnage; her beloved husband James Cotie Marshall; one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 2, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Pittsburg, with Bro. Randy Stracener officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Monday, February 1 at the funeral home.
