Obituary of Yvonne Allen

Yvonne Allen, age 78, of Pittsburg, passed away Monday, October 12 in Pittsburg. She was born November 5, 1936 in Benton, Arkansas to Clarence and Genevia Coburn Allen. Yvonne was well known in the Pittsburg area, having worked 53 years as a hair sytlist, and having owned Serenity Salon for many years. She was a bit of a shop-a-holic, and always managed to find a good deal. Yvonne was an avid gardner and spent countless hours tending to her yard accompanied by her two beloved dogs, Iris, a Corgi, and Molly, a Chihuahua. Most importantly though, she was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son, Jeff Warford and wife Lou Ann, of Quitman; two grandchildren: Kayla and Johnathan Warford; husband: Bill Warford; a brother, Gerald Allen and wife Lucy; four sisters: Teresa Allen Spinka and husband George, Rebecca Dowdell, Roberta McCarthy, and Lida Jendrysik; along with numerous nieces and nephews and a bushell of dear friends. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, October 16, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Pittsburg, with Bro. David Kizer officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Leesburg Cemetery. The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to Doctors Blair MacBeath (ETMC Pittsburg) and Nayyar Syed (Bo and Patty Pilgrim Cancer Center, Mt. Pleasant) for the excellent care and support they gave to Mrs. Allen during her illness. Memorial contributions may be made in Yvonne's name to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation.
