Harry Eversole

Obituary of Harry Allen Eversole

Harry Allen Eversole, 65, of Pittsburg, TX passed away unexpectedly on September 14, 2017.  While family and friends do not understand why God has taken such a good and loving man from them so suddenly, they find comfort in the assurance that he is now in the presence of the One he loved to serve, his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Harry was born July 21, 1952 to the late Edwin Abraham and Ruth Marie Eversole on Fort Chaffee Army Base in Fort Smith, AR.  He earned an associate degree from San Antonio College, and he proudly served in the United States Army from 1972 to 1974.  In his 20s-30s, Harry was an avid softball player and rattlesnake hunter.  Harry spent his career as a computer programmer with USAA for 24 years and then Citigroup for 10 years before retiring.

Harry married Beverly in 1998, and they were blessed to love and be loved by each other for 20 years.

Upon retirement, Harry moved to Pittsburg, TX with Beverly.  Always together, they filled their days with nature hikes, walks with their beloved chows, traveling in their camper trailer to dozens of national parks, socializing with friends and neighbors, and volunteering at the local food pantry.

Harry’s sense of humor and his ever-ready yet often corny jokes would always put a smile on your face.  His humor became known as “harry-isms”, and this quality of his will be fondly remembered.

Harry was a friend to so many in his community and church.  He was a Godly man with a servant heart.  He loved to listen to gospel music and play hymns on his guitar, and he served as an elder in his church.

Harry was a loving husband, an involved father, and an amazing grandfather.  He was family-centered, down to earth, easy going, and patriotic. There are truly no words to describe how much he will be missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Harry is survived by his wife Beverly, son Kevin Eversole and his wife Melissa, daughter Shannon Colley and her husband Mike, step-daughters Melissa Wilson and her husband Geff, and Christine Bennett and her husband Jeff, and his 9 grandchildren, Christian and Brendan Eversole, Garrett and Ashton Colley, Maegan and Madison Wilson, Clayton, Natalie, and Brooke Bennett.  He is also survived by two sisters, Carrie Whitworth and her husband Keith, and Sandy Gallagher.

Services for Harry will be held on Friday, September 22.  The interment of ashes will be at DFW National Cemetery in Grand Prairie at 11:30am.  The Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at First Christian Church in Mt. Pleasant at 4:00pm, with a meal to follow in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Titus County Cares Food Pantry, where Harry passionately served as a volunteer several days a week, at PO Box 1476, Mt. Pleasant, TX, 75456-1476.
